Position Overview

The Manager, Operations Business Systems plays a critical role in optimizing and enhancing our business operations to drive efficiency, productivity, and profitability. This position leads a team of business analysts collaborating with subject matter experts in Supply Chain, Logistics, Inventory Management, Manufacturing, and related Operations functions to develop and implement industry-standard processes. The Manager, Operations Business Systems is responsible for driving strategic alignment on the business process improvement roadmap within the Operations organization, as well closely partnering with Finance, IT, Integrations, and other stakeholders to development and manage the enterprise ERP roadmap. This role is responsible for team members, managing the day-to-day support and daily operations for the SAP platform and other systems as it relates to the Operations organization and will be required to collaborate with third party vendors.

Essential Duties

include but are not limited to the following:

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Production, Quality Control, Supply Chain, Planning, Distribution, R&D, Finance, IT and Quality to support business needs.
  • Utilize data-driven insights to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement in operational processes.
  • Lead efforts to analyze current business processes, identify inefficiencies, and develop and implement solutions to optimize operations.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to monitor the effectiveness of operational processes and track progress towards goals.
  • Serve as a liaison for Operations with SAP business users and IT/SAP configuration experts, internally and externally.
  • Serve in a project management capacity, as needed, to support key business objectives.
  • Work with leadership to support our growing business; including global implementations, process and system design, integration testing, validation, user training, and post go-live support.
  • Perform support of production applications by tracking problems/issues and following-up with internal users.
  • Oversee the gathering, analyzing, and documentation of business and functional requirements; translate needs of the business into applicable system design solutions.
  • Ensure the team has the knowledge and resources needed to develop and maintain training.
  • Challenge business requirements if they would lead to unreasonable system changes (e.g., no harmonization or costs/benefit aspects).
  • Evaluate, prioritize, and manage changes to the SAP system using appropriate change management processes.
  • Develop and oversee the project funnel for Operations related projects.
  • Oversee first level support for SAP users and SMEs in the Operations area.
  • Mentor, guide, and develop team members to grow talent within the organization.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Operations, Supply Chain, Inventory, Warehouse, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field; or High School Diploma/General Education Degree and 4 years of relevant experience in lieu of Bachelor's degree.
  • 5+ years of experience working with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, such as SAP.
  • 3+ years of direct leadership experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of SAP configuration to support Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Logistics and Warehouse, and Quality.
  • Professional working knowledge of Computer Systems Validation or equivalent "Best Practices".
  • Professional working knowledge of change control, as it relates to application systems.
  • Professional working knowledge of application systems development methodology.
  • Demonstrated effective training and presentations skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in a biotech/life sciences manufacturing environment; preferably in a cGMP, ISO 13485, and/or CLIA environment.
  • 3+ years of experience with the integration points of Materials Management (MM) and Procurement Planning (PP) to other SAP modules; such as FI and CO.
  • 1+ years of experience using Computer Systems Validation or equivalent best practices and of change control as it relates to application systems.
  • Experience leading a team in a full implementation of an ERP system or new modules in an existing system.
  • Experience with S/4 HANA and Fiori apps as a business user or in technical support role.
  • Knowledge of QM module functionality as business user or in technical support role.
  • Familiarity with project management processes.

Salary Range:

$109,000.00 - $174,000.00

The annual base salary shown is for this position located in US - WI - Madison on a full-time basis. In addition, this position is bonus eligible, and is eligible to receive company stock upon hire as well as annually.
