Job Description

Position Compensation Range:

$76,000.00 - $125,000.00

Compensation may vary based on the job level and your geographic work location.

You will be in a senior-level role that supports underwriting operations. This role shifts to either expert underwriting and risk evaluation or project work that improves the efficiency of the underwriting operations area. You will develop metrics and analyze information to make recommendations that impact profitability trends. This level may be used for field underwriters that have exposure to customers and agents. You will report to the Sr. Manager, Insurance Operations.

Risk Analysis (70%)

  • You will evaluate information and exposures on complex risks for third-party insurance carriers. You will evaluate risk characteristics and trends for appropriate selection of coverages and appropriate pricing.
  • You will use risk characteristics and trends to guide individual risk pricing, coverage, terms and conditions.
  • You will analyze claims and loss history, taking into consideration appropriate action on individual accounts or program or territory.

B&A Binding Authority Research and Best Practices (20%)

  • You will provide underwriting performance expertise and perspective to B&A Insurance Solutions management team on an ongoing basis.
  • You will be the expert resource within B&A Insurance Solutions for data integration, interpretation and presentation.
  • You will use expert knowledge of surplus lines and markets to identify trends and causes that affect profit and growth. You will evaluate effect on business results and influences actions of B&A Insurance Solutions leadership and insurance carrier partners.
  • You will work with divisional leadership to develop management and executive level reports and presentations.
  • You will implement long term and short-term strategies for creation, maintenance, enhancement, and replacement of risk pricing, terms and conditions.

Industry Research & Relationship Management (10%)

  • You will develop positive business relationships with co-workers, agents, and carriers.
  • You will have knowledge of industry and competitor activities by attending industry functions while building and maintaining relationships with peers within the industry.
  • You'll serve as a resource for the field force and sales management.
  • You will utilize business relationships and personal acumen to bring new product ideas to management for use in distribution model with carrier partners.

Qualifications

  • Underwriting experience in specialty lines or commercial
  • Understanding of surplus and specialty insurance.
  • Excess & Surplus lines experience
  • Agency management system experience

In this flex office/home role, you will work a minimum of 10 days per month from one of the following office locations: Madison, WI 53783; Boston, MA 02110; Chicago, IL 60601*; Phoenix, AZ 85034
