Description

What you will do: Proofread, verify, layout and prep new customer orders for digital print production. Work with various departments in development of new product offerings and to assist with customer order design.

**Successful hires for the Digital Print Technician position will receive a $1,000 sign on bonus after 90 days of employment!**

Primary Duties:

1. Layout and prep new customer orders according to specifications using primarily Corel Draw, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop work with workflow management systems

2. Work closely with Design and production staff

3. Verify all order designs and layouts are within manufacturing capabilities and work with illustration team or manufacturing supervisor to correct if required

4. Proofread text and double check all specifications on all orders to reduce or eliminate potential problems with downstream production processes

5. Work with Design and illustrators to assist in product/order design and/or layout

6. Work with illustration team, product management and other officer personnel in development of new product offerings

7. Work with Production to maintain efficient workflow through digital print production and other downstream processes

8. Work with production lead to monitor quality and color accuracy using all available tools (color spectrometer, tabor tester machine, etc)

9. Coordinate with production lead & production management to train new employees on job duties and safety when needed

10. Work with production staff and production management to understand new equipment

11. Maintain and upgrade as needed all design / layout & production software (Corel, Adobe, RIP, Amber, etc)

12. Build and maintain color profiles as needed

13. Attend & participate in corporate leadership / continuing education classes and / or training as required by management

14. All other tasks and duties as designated by manufacturing supervisor/manager

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prep orders in date sequence, or as directed by management
  • Maintain working knowledge of all computer programs and systems needed perform all job duties
  • Maintain communications with all manufacturing employees and illustration team
  • Full understanding of catalog offerings as they pertain to printed product
  • Assist in training of new employees

Job Specifications:

  • Proficient knowledge of Corel Draw, working knowledge of Adobe Illustration and Photoshop
  • Prior experience with large-format print systems preferred, flatbed UV-ink systems a plus along with prepress operations
  • Must possess basic math skills, the ability to understand measurements and read a ruler or tape measure
  • Must have ability to read, understand and follow illustrations and other technical drawings
  • Must possess a strong spelling ability
  • Must be able to work without supervision
  • Must be able to distinguish slight variations in like-colors
  • Ability to lift up to 70 pounds
  • Minimum high school diploma, secondary education in graphic design and/or digital print operation preferred
